Why film?

Beautiful grain, dreamy colors, and subtle softness are all things that make film have that look that digital just can't quite replicate. While digital dominates the wedding world - its fast, easy, and can capture those extremely quick moments, including film in your wedding helps bring artistic touches and nostalgia to your memories. Film is imperfect, which adds a layer of authenticity and can capture more emotion and character than digital photos can. We shoot film to tell stories but also to showcase emotions!

We offer both 35mm and 120 film packages, but here's a guide on how to choose which option is best for you!

Benefits of 35mm format

I. It's fast

Our 35mm film cameras have autofocus - so if you are looking for film throughout the entire day - especially during the ceremony, 35mm is really great!

II. You get more photos

From each roll of 35mm film you can plan to get back around 25 photos! Which is almost triple a roll of medium format.

III. Grainier

This may be a downside to some - but if you really love the grainy-ness of film then 35mm is perfect for you.

35mm is perfect for fast moments

Looking to go photos during the ceremony, or want some direct flash photos during the reception? 35mm rolls would be perfect for this.

Benefits of 120 format

I. Can enlarge photos

If you think you may want to print these photos, 120 film would be preferable. 120 film is around 4x larger than 35mm, which is why you can expect each roll of 120 film to return around 8 photos.

II. Extremely Sharp

While 35mm photos can be sharp, 120 is consistently sharp, and has a really lovely depth of field. So if you love that blurry background in film photos, 120 is for you.

III. Best for portrait sessions

120 film is best during slower time points of your wedding - think bridesmaid's portraits and couples portraits after the ceremony

120 film is best for portrait sessions after the ceremony

It takes a bit more time to take photos on medium format, they are manually focused cameras, and can only take a few photos at a time. Because of this, it is best to use this film if you are looking to get photos in the couples portrait session after the ceremony, or maybe some bridesmaids and groom's photos before the ceremony.
